Born in Maine and raised in the military, Tony followed his father’s footsteps by joining the US Air Force in 1984 as an Ammo Troop (IYAAYAS!). His last assignment took his family to Chugiak, Alaska where he retired after 26 years of military service from JBER (Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson).
A lifetime hunter, Tony took advantage of Alaska’s variety of animals (moose, caribou, black bear, grizzly bear, dall sheep, mountain goat). He began his taxidermy career at Tall Tales Taxidermy in Anchorage, where he learned and honed his skills on all Alaskan and many African mammals.
While living in Alaska, Tony started Down Range Taxidermy in 2012. Specializing in black bears and caribou, he created numerous rugs, life size and shoulder mounts.
Tony took his daughter on her first black bear hunt to Resurrection Bay, Alaska as a high school graduation gift. It was a very successful hunt and the memories they share will last forever. Tony firmly believes in teaching future generations about hunting and finding solace in the woods.
Michigan has always been home base to Tony. On visits to see family, a trip to Jay’s Sporting Goods was a must with his Dad to spend quality time talking about past and future hunts. Family needs caused a permanent relocation to Gladwin, Michigan in 2020, and since Tony has added the whitetail deer and turkey species to his abilities.
